53 Week Journey through the Land of Drapes and Colors: Week #37
For details on all the sarees I have posted so far, go here.
Towards the middle of September finally a group of my girl friends decided to do a social distancing gathering at a local park that has a lake attached to it. The lake actually is kind of backwater flow from Connecticut River that flows nearby.
This group of mine used to meet every month and do a Girls Night or Day Out. However with Pandemic it hasn’t been possible. We have been meeting individually one-on-one but not as a group. So this was out first in 6 months and we had such a grand time.
I decided to mark this as a milestone of the event with this multi-hued Benares Artificial Silk (= Made by manufacturers from the town of Benares, India) saree. The body of the saree is bluish green with black, gold and red motifs woven into the pleats (= the folded layers in the front of the saree) and the Pallu (= portion that goes from front of your body and over the shoulder) is maroon and black with gold artificial zari motifs woven in; along with patterns made of black and red.
I paired it with the blouse that comes with the saree with coordinating colors and patterns. And accessorized with bluish-green bead necklace, large gold-plated earrings with pearls and color coordinating bangles on my wrists. I am posing in front of this arched trellis in the garden that bordered the lake we went to.
Since I got dressed up, my friends indulged me in taking some pictures of me; and we did candid poses and clicked a lot more of us as well. It was a beautiful place so we all had a fun time posing around the lake, the barn and the garden in general.
Here are a few more pictures from that day.
These are more shots of me with various backdrops.

PS: I am not sure if I tied the saree in the correct way to showcase all the patterns and designs of the saree as they are supposed to. Next time when I get to see my mom I should have her help me with this and see if it might come out in a more better way.
