53 Week Journey through the Land of Drapes and Colors: Week #12
For details on all the sarees I have posted so far, go here.
Another fun video with my girlfriends gave me an opportunity to wear another one of my sarees . This saree has been with me for 15 years approximately and still feels the same as I wore it the first time, although there is a minor change to it.
A rich maroon red Georgette saree with handwork of beads and thread all through including the border and the pallu, this saree had to be handled gently whenever I wore because of the delicate work. Surprisingly I noticed only few nicks and tears of the beads or thread. The border of the pallu has more embroidery, beads, thread work and a small tassel of beads in the bottom.
I paired the saree with a rich Jacquard Blouse with golden colored self print. The original blouse doesnt fit me anymore so I mix and matched it with this blouse.
I accessorized with Sea Green colored Necklace and Earrings, Bracelets with coordinating colors on my wrist and completed it off with Chabi Gucha (= Key Ring) on my waist. I love Chabi Guchas and have quite a few pieces.
They are the intricate Key Rings that ladies of the household used to wear on their waist or tied to their end of the pallu. The Key Ring usually held the keys to all the locks in the house. Now we wear it just as a fun accessory.
Thanks to my friends, I got another saree picture for my collection.
