Continuing with the critiques I started in 2015, here is the next in series – a movie review.
Nine Lives of Christmas is a 2014 Hallmark Channel original romantic-comedy movie starring Brandon Routh and Kimberly Sustad. The plot revolves around a veterinary student and a fireman who get bonded over two cats during the Christmas season. The movie charmed me the first time when I saw it and I ended up watching again when it came aired this year. And here's my review.
Zachary Stone (portrayed by Brandon Routh) - an eternal bachelor - meets Marilee White (portrayed by Kimberly Sustad) after a stray cat named Ambrose adopts Zach and he seeks car-advice from her. Marilee also works at the local pet store. However, Zach's current girlfriend, Blair (portrayed by Chelsea Hobbs) gets annoyed at a casual comment by Marilee and has her fired. At the same time Marilee's landlord finds that she has a pet cat - Queenie - in her home when pets are not allowed so she gets evicted. Feeling guilt that he was the reason for her to lose the job, Zach offers Marilee a portion of his home to live - a home that is still being restored. As they co-live in that house, they get to know each other and start liking. But Zach is not one to commit to one girl because of the experience he had with his parents. While Marilee is working towards become a Vet before she even can think of dating anyone. Will Zach make the movie and commit? Will Marilee consider Zach her soulmate despite her goals to become a vet? That is something one has to watch the movie to know.
Other characters we come along in the plot that add more charm to it are - Mrs. Winnamucker (Marilee's home owner), Chief Sam (Zach's chief at the fire station), Ray (Zach's fireman buddy), Mark (Zach's fireman buddy), Lucy (Marilee's co-worker at the pet store), Jaclyn (Marilee's sister), Kyle (Jaclyn's husband) and Sarah (Marilee's friend).
There are many holiday movies that air during the season, and some remain in one's heart making a mark. For some reason this movie made that to me. A charming holiday story that brings cheer to one's heart and rises spirit in one's soul.
