Movie Critique 2016 – 04/30/2016: Kshanam

Continuing with the critiques I started in 2015, here is the next in series – a movie review.
Prologue: Go here.

Stars: 4.5 / 5
Recommendation: Looking for a thriller with twist that churn your brain? Then, this is the one.

Kshanam ( = Moment / Second) is a 2016 Telugu Crime Thriller. Every second matters and every moment counts - shown very effectively in this bone-chilling thriller. A voicemail from a long-forgotten ex-girlfriend turns one man's life upside down in a matter of moments.

Rishi (portrayed by Adivi Sesh) is a workaholic living in San Francisco, USA and staying as far away as possible from relationships. One day he gets a voice message from him ex-girlfriend Shweta whom he had wanted to forget for a long time. Her plea for help makes him quit everything he was doing at that moment and goes to India. When he meets her, he comes to know that she had a daughter named Riya who was kidnapped her after attacking Shweta and injuring her. Shweta comes out of the hospital only to realize that there is no trace of Riya and no one seems to remember her or know her driving Shweta crazy. The only person she could think of who could help her was Rishi. Now Rishi sets upon investigating what happened the day the incident happened. Initially everything seems to be exactly how the police, the school supposedly that Riya was attending, friends, neighbors and everyone say. But is it so?

Rishi delving into it further leads him to surprising bends and new clues. So, is Shweta crazy or speaking the truth? Is Rishi blinded by the past they have had together? Where is Riya? Who was behind the attack that happened on Shweta? What is Shweta's husband hiding? Story plot well-taken spinning at every corner into a new maze. Screenplay by Adivi Sesh who also played the lead role is impeccable. In some scenes one does feel the chill in your spinal cord and hairs rise all over. Its been too long that Telugu film world produced a very good thriller. Do watch it if you get a chance.

Spoiler Alerts:
1. I couldn’t recognize the lead actor Adivi Sesh until I saw his profile in Wiki. Its amazing that he was the same psycho Munna in the 2011 Telugu thriller Panjaa ( = Claw / Paw).
2. Anasuya Bharadwaj is a host for various TV shows and Audio releases for movies. Cant imagine the same chirpy girl is the very serious ACP Jaya Bharadwaj with a mean streak.
3. Satyam Rajesh (portraying as Inspector Ravi Chowdary finally gets a role that shows him with more meat than just comedy.
