Magic In Tunes: 12/24/2015 - Naalona Valapundi Meelona Vayasundi Ha

When I posted the song from Rojulu Marayi a while ago, I had mentioned that Waheeda Rehman had acted only in one telugu movie. I stand corrected. Turns out that she acted in four movies although her hit song was from the Rojulu Marayi movie. I came across one of her other movies when I was searching for a song for my nephew's birthday. Incidentally the birthday song from this movie is quite famous and I remember singing it a lot as a kid, unawares of on whom it was pictured. However I found another song from that movie whose music is copied from a well-known hindi song. That is what I am posting here.

From the 1974 Telugu film Bangaru Kalalu ( = Golden Dreams), this song was Sung by P. Susheela. The Music for this song, composed by Saluri Rajeswarara Rao, was based on the hit song Bangle Ke Peeche…Kanta Laga from the 1972 hit Hindi film Samadhi. And the Lyrics were penned by Dasaradhi. Here is the video of the song.

Here is the original Hindi song that was composed by R. D. Burman, Sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Lyrics penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. This song has been made into several remix versions lately. And incidentally this movie was also remade in Telugu going on to become a major hit. However that would be for another post. For now, the video of the original song.

Oh forgot to mention the other beautiful melody from the movie in question of this post, Bangaru Kalalu. The birthday song titled Puttina Rojuku Jejelu Chitti Papai that I used to hum a lot as a kid. Sung by P. Susheela again making this another memorable one.
