Magic In Tunes: 08/31/2015 – Thelisindi Le Thelisindi Le Nelaraaja Nee Roopu Thelisindile

This lovely melody is from the 1964 hit Telugu film Ramudu Bheemudu ( = Ramudu and Bheemudu are names of boys) Sung by Ghantasala and P. Susheela. This movie was the first movie by Producer Daggubati Ramanaidu and there was no looking back for this legend once this masterpiece was created on Silver Screen. Ramudu Bheemudu was remade in Tamil as Enga Veettu Pillai the same year and remade in Hindi as Ram Aur Shyam in 1967.

Ramanaidu produced several wonderful hit films in Telugu such as Premnagar, Jeevana Tarangalu, Devata etc. before he ventured into other languages namely  Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya film, Gujarati, Bhojpuri and Punjabi. In total he filmed in 13 Indian languages landing him in Guinness Book Of World Records in 2008. He was also felicitated by India's two of the top awards - Padma Bhushan in 2013 and Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2009 - for all his contributions to Telugu Cinema. He was spearhead in building the first cine studios in Hyderabad, Ramanaidu Studios, until which all movies were made in Madras studios. He left a legacy not only in his films but also in his family as well with successful actors as Venkatesh and Rana Daggupati.

Now coming back to his first movie, Ramudu Bheemudu, marked also as the first movie where the lead actor legendary N. T. Rama Rao has for the first time enacted in a dual role. Although he had appeared in one song for the 1961 movie Jagadeka Veeruni Katha where he clones himself five times just for that song. (I posted about it here). All songs of which are memorable. Music was composed by Pendyala Nageswar Rao. However several Lyricists worked on the songs. Here are each of the gems. Lyrics for all the songs can  be found here.

First up the song that made me write this post, Thelisindi Le Thelisindi Le Nelaraaja Nee Roopu Thelisindile. Lyrics were penned by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy.

Another romantic melody, Ade Ade Naaku Antu Teliyakunnadi, again Sung by Ghantasala and P. Susheela. Lyrics were penned by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy.

The following two songs portray the positive side of progress in life of normal man and hope for a better future - "Desammu Maarindoy Kaalammu Maarindoy" Sung by Ghantasala, P. Susheela and Chorus; Lyrics penned by Kosaraju Raghavaiah. "Undile Manchi Kaalam Mundu Mundunaa" Sung by Ghantasala and P. Susheela. Lyrics penned by Srirangam Srinivasa Rao (also known as Sri Sri).

There is a song on Cigarette in Hindi, but I hadnt heard one in Telugu. And was charmed to find it in this movie. Titled Sarada Sarada Cigarettu was Sung by Madhavapeddi Satyam and Jamunarani. Lyrics were penned by Kosaraju Raghavaiah.

Least popular songs from this movie are - "Thaluku Thaluku Mane" Sung by Ghantasala and P. Susheela whose Lyrics were penned by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy; "Taguna Idi Mama" Sung by Ghantasala and Madhavipeddi Satyam. Lyrics were penned by Kosaraju Raghavaiah
