10/24/2012: Happy Dusshera - Another big festival that is celebrated for 10 days in India is Dusshera marking the victory of Lord Rama over the demon kind Ravana. This festival also honors the killing of another demon king Mahishasura by Goddess Durga. As usual for any festival we make lots of dishes, sweet and spicy alike. At my home this festival is famous for making nine varieties of rice dishes along with lots of sweets. I usually try to make at least five varieties to keep the tradition on. And I made five this time too....but I forgot to capture them. So, here's posting one from a few years ago. The five dishes that I usually make are:
Top Row - (L to R) Tamarind Rice, Vegetable Rice and Coriander Rice
Bottom Row - (L to R) Lemon Rice, Curd Rice (Daddojanam)
Note: Recipes for all these have been posted in my photo blog. Search with "Rice Specials" and you can find them.
