05/23/2012: Oats BisiBele Bath - I am sure anyone would be familiar of BisiBele Bath, a famous Karnataka recipe with rice that is yummy to eat. However, do you know the Oats version it? I guess not. Well here you cna find the recipe as part of my "Obsession with Oats" series....he he he. It turned out to be yummy too! ;)

05232012 - Oats BisiBele Bath

Recipe: In a pressure cooker cook, veggies of your choice (1 cup) and 1/4 cup Toor Dal with 3 cups of Water. Leave until 4 whistles so the contents become very soft and will be easy to mash them with a spoon. In the meanwhile in a pan dry roast 1 cup of Regular Oats and keep aside. In the same pan heat Oil, then add 1/4 tsp of Mustard Seeds, 1/4 tsp of Jeera Seeds, 1/4 tsp of Urad Dal, a pinch of Turmeric, a few Curry Leaves and a pinch of Hing. Add a medium sized Onion chopped finely and a one medium Tomato chopped finely. Fry till they are mushy. Add Ginger Garlic Paste, Red Chili Powder and Bisi Bele Bath Powder, all according to your taste. Stir well. Now add 2 tsps of Tamarind Paste and Salt. Mix well and add 3 Cups of Water. Bring it to a boil and add the dry rosated Oats and mashed veggie - Toor Dal paste. Simmer till the Oats get cooked completely. Remove from flame, garnish with Cilantro leaves and serve hot with Curd and Curry. You can add some crushed Potato Chips or Khara Boondi for garnishing.
