01/12/2012: Pesarapappu Kattu / Moong Daal Rasam / Split Green Gram Rasam - Another kind of rasam that I make occasionally when I feel like eating something non-spicy and tangy.
Split Green Gram - 1 Cup (Pressure cooked with 3 cups of water to a paste)
Water - 2.5 Cups
Garlic Clove - 1 (Smashed)
Ginger - 1/4 inch (Cut into little pieces)
Lime - 1 (Juice squeezed out of it)
Green Chilies - 2 (Cut into small pieces)
Salt to taste
Spices - 1tsp Mustard Seeds, 1tsp Cumin Seeds, 4 to 5 Curry Leaves, a Pinch of Asafoetida
Oil - 1tsp
1) In a sauce pan, put the Split Green Gram cooked paste, Water, smashed Garlic, minced Ginger, cut Green Chilies and Salt.
2) Let it boil.
3) Now add the Lime Juice and simmer for a few minutes.
4) Remove from stove.
5) In a small skillet heat the Oil. Add the spices in the order listed. After they fry well add it to the Rasam.
6) Serve hot with Rice.
