Cup of Tea, Anyone?
This past week my friend Patty gave a memorial tea in honor of her mom, Edythe, whom she lost in April of this year due to COVID-19. Edythe had a very long and a happy life. So Patty invited a few of her friends to a tea in her memory.
Patty and her mom, Edythe, had a standing tradition of going to afternoon tea at one of the local tea places, Tea Roses Tea Room, for special occasions such as birthdays, mother's day and for holidays. Edythe's birthday was in August and with everyone's schedules and the location availability the event got pushed into September.
I wore this beautiful purple colored machine-woven jute silk saree with gold and silver motifs all through, and a stitched woven border. I wore a pinkish purple blouse contrasting the purple of the saree. I bought this during my trip to India in 2012.
I accessorized it with a long chain of pearls and tourmaline stoned jaguar shaped pendant; tourmaline earrings and color coordinating bangles on my wrists. Here I am posing in the little gift shop the tea room has, with all the various knick-knacks filled with tea theme.
This was the first time I was going out to eat or drink since the pandemic hit us in March of this year. I had food at a few of my friend's homes; and one pizza slice once. But pretty much I had been eating home-cooked food only. I was hesitant and skeptical to go out, but I wanted to be there for Patty.( Collapse )
