Magic In Tunes: 09/13/2015 - Tayyab Ali Pyaar Ka Dushman

This classic song is from the 1977 hit Hindi action-comedy film Amar Akbar Anthony ( = Names of Boys) that hits on the lost and found theme about three brothers. Not only the movie was a block buster, every single song was a superhit. (This movie in itself will be for another post, I am going to stick only to this song here). This particular song was Sung by Mohd. Rafi, Music composed by Laxmikant - Pyarelal and Lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi.

Its all about teasing or rather aggravating Tayyab Ali (portrayed by Mukri) by Akbar (portrayed by Rishi Kapoor) because he doesn’t allow Akbar to marry Salma (portrayed by Neetu Singh). This song was reprised in the 2013 Hindi gangster film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara!. It was Sung by Javed Ali. Music was reprised by Anupam Amod keeping the original music as much as possible. Lyrics also were reprised by Rajat Aroraa, again keeping the lines to be as close to the original as possible. Even in the picturization, they used the hijdas, had Imran Khan (lead actor) climb up a red commercial ladder and even managed to have the actor portraying Tayyab Ali look closer to Mukri. Yet, I love the original version better.
