Magic In Tunes: 07/07/2015 – Idele Taratarala Charitam

From the 1992 hit Telugu film Peddarikam ( = Eldership) Sung by K. J. Yesudas and Swarnalatha. Music composed by Raj – Koti and Lyrics penned by Vadepalli Chandra

Till date I hadn’t seen this movie, but I feel this song very powerful. It speaks about the feuds that families have endured thru generations where a simple love could have mended them sooner. Small words but throw a lot of punch, adding to that the scene in the movie and the expressions of the actors does complete justice.

Lyrics in Romanized Telugu:

Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam
Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam
Pagemo Pranamayyena Premale Dooramayyena
Nirase Ningi Kegasena Asale Ralipoyena
Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam

Odilo Perigina Chinnarine Eraga Chesinada Dweshamu
Kathamarada E Pani Agada
Manishe Pasuvuga Marite Kasiga Sisuvunu Kummithe
Manishe Pasuvuga Marite Kasiga Sisuvunu Kummithe
Abhamu Subhamu Erugani Valapulu Odipoyena

Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam
Pagemo Pranamayyena Premale Dooramayyena
Nirase Ningi Kegasena Asale Ralipoyena
Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam

Virisi Viriyani Poothotalo Ragile Mantalu Challarava
Arpedela Odarchedela
Neere Nippuga Marite Veluge Cheekati Ruvvithe
Neere Nippuga Marite Veluge Cheekati Ruvvithe
Pagalu Segalu Mamatala Puvvulu Kalipoyena

Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam
Pagemo Pranamayyena Premale Dooramayyena
Nirase Ningi Kegasena Asale Ralipoyena
Idele Taratarala Charitam Jwalinche Jeevitala Kadanam

There are two other tunes in the movie that are easy on the ear though.

Nee Navve Chalu Vasanthi Sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and Chitra. Lyrics penned by Bhuvanachandra

Priyatama Priyatama Sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and Chitra. Lyrics penned by Bhuvanachandra

Me

Magic In Tunes: 07/08/2015 – So Gaya Yeh Jahan

Whle driving back from work yesterday I heard the remix version of this song on radio and reminded me of the original song from the movie Tezaab.

Tezaab ( = Acid) was released in 1988 and was a superhit giving N. Chandra, film’s director, hatrick at box office. Whenever one hears the name of Tezaab, they will always remember the chartbuster “Ek Do Teen” song that made Madhuri Dixit an overnight sensation. However for me this movie reminds me of the following:

1) The opening scene where one of the goon pours a bottle of acid on the flourishing plant killing it instantly, following with the title of the movie in blood red. Definitely made a statement.
2) Introduction of Anil Kapoor as the ex-criminal and local mercenary who has his own law.
3) Chunkey Pandey’s role as friend who stands with Anil Kapoor thru thick and thin
4) The intense fighting scene at the dockyard towards the climax.
5) Johnny Lever in the beginning of his career.
6) And of course the famous “Ek Do Teen” and the soulful “So Gaya Yeh Jahan” numbers

So Gaya Yeh Jahan was Sung by Nitin Mukesh (son of legendery singer Mukesh), Shabbir Kumar & Alka Yagnik. Music composed by the duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

Lyrics in Romanized Hindi:

So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan, So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan
So Gayi Hai Saari Manzilein, O Saari Manzilein So Gaya Hai Rasta
So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan
So Gayi Hai Saari Manzilein, O Saari Manzilein So Gaya Hai Rasta
So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan

Raat Aayi Toh Woh Jinke Ghar They Woh Ghar Kho Gaye So Gaye
Raat Aayi Tho Ham Jaise Aawaara Phir Nikale Raahon Mein Aur Kho Gaye
Is Gali Us Gali, Is Nagar Us Nagar, Jaaye Bhi Tho Kaha Jaana Chaahe Agar
Ho So Gayi Hai Saari Manzilein, O Saari Manzilein So Gaya Hai Rasta
So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan, So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan

Kuchh Meri Suno, Kuchh Apni Kaho, Ho Paas Toh Aise Chup Naa Raho
Ham Paas Bhi Hai, Aur Dur Bhi Hain, Aajad Bhi Hai, Majboor Bhi Hain
Kyun Pyaar Ka Mausam Bit Gaya, Kyun Humse Zamana Jeet Gaya
Har Ghadi Mera Dil Gham Ke Ghere Mein Hain
Zindagi Door Tak Ab Andhere Mein Hain; Andhere Mein Hain, Andhere Mein Hain
Ho So Gayi Hai Saari Manzilein, O Saari Manzilein So Gaya Hai Rasta
So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan, So Gaya Yeh Jahan, So Gaya Aasmaan

And here is the remix version of the same song. Nothing changed except for additional tunes added to the song and the way it was pictured. This was from the 2012 Hindi romantic comedy Nautanki Saala ( = Drama King). The song also contained only the chorus and the first stanza. A soulful song pictured into a comic version. Cute.
