Magic In Tunes: 06/19/2015 – Railgadi Railgadi Railgadi Chuk Chuk Chuk

For my parents who are on another trip having time of their life.  From the 1968 Hindi film Aashirwad ( = Blessings) Sung by the legendery actor Ashok Kumar. Music composed by Vasant Desai and Lyrics penned by Harindranath Chattopadhyay.

This is a Rap song which I believe pretty unique for Indian music in the 60s. Harindranath has written the lyrics so well that covered the stations names and so did Ashok Kumar rapped them including all the sounds of a train. However, the song is not pictured on a train at all. It is pictured on little children playing a game of train (by holding each other and running around). Not sure if kids still played this game, but I remember playing this a a lot my siblings and cousins as a kid.

Magic In Tunes: 06/20/2015 – Happy Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice, a celebration of the longest day on earth, welcomes sunshine, soft breezes, warm rains, explosion of colors and long pleasant nights. Here’s a summer song that I love the most honoring this day.

This song is titled All Summer Long (how apt, isn’t it! :P) Sung by Kid Rock for his 2008 album Rock N Roll Jesus. The song is a mashup of the 1970s hit songs, Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London", and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" (per Wiki).

Lyrics in English:

It Was 1989, My Thoughts Were Short My Hair Was Long
Caught Somewhere Between A Boy And Man
She Was Seventeen And She Was Far From In-Between
It Was Summertime In Northern Michigan
Ahh Ahh Ahh
Ahh Ahh Ahh

Splashing Through The Sand Bar
Talking By The Campfire
It's The Simple Things In Life, Like When And Where
We Didn't Have No Internet
But Man I Never Will Forget
The Way The Moonlight Shined Upon Her Hair

[Chorus:]
And We Were Trying Different Things
We Were Smoking Funny Things
Making Love Out By The Lake To Our Favorite Song
Sipping Whiskey Out The Bottle, Not Thinking 'Bout Tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long

Catching Walleye From The Dock
Watching The Waves Roll Off The Rocks
She'll Forever Hold A Spot Inside My Soul
We'd Blister In The Sun
We Couldn't Wait For Night To Come
To Hit That Sand And Play Some Rock And Roll

While We Were Trying Different Things
And We Were Smoking Funny Things
Making Love Out By The Lake To Our Favorite Song
Sipping Whiskey Out The Bottle, Not Thinking 'Bout Tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long

Now Nothing Seems As Strange As When The Leaves Began To Change
Or How We Thought Those Days Would Never End
Sometimes I'll Hear That Song And I'll Start To Sing Along
And Think Man I'd Love To See That Girl Again

[Repeat Chorus X2]
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama All Summer Long
