Magic In Tunes: 04/17/2015 – Mera Naam Hai Shabnam

Although the current generation have many lead actresses or various small actresses playing item numbers, in yester year Hindi films, the item numbers were danced by the three actresses; Helen, Aruna Irani and Bindu; forming “The Holy Trinity”. For a long time it was Helen who portrayed these numbers, and later Aruna Irani and Bindu were roped into these. And these three were known for character roles as well either playing as the vamp, sympathetic lover of the hero, in some cases avenging sister/wife/lover too.

Binudu’s item numbers started with the hit number “Mera Naam Hai Shabnam” in the 1970 hit Hindi film Kati Patang ( = A Cut Kite). Sung by Asha Bholse, Music was composed by R. D. Burman and Lyrics penned by Anand Bakshi. This movie will form a post of its own in future. The song is more of reading the lyrics than singing it, and the dance by Bindu was body grooving than actual steps. Yet, the performance she gave in this song could have given Asha Parekh (the lead actress) nautral chills for it gave me too. Did you feel the same too? Well, here’s the song for you to find out that made Bindu an overnight sensation.

Lyrics in Romanized Hindi:

Meraa Nam Hai Shabnam, Pyar Se Log Mujhe Kahte Hain Shabbo
Ta Ra Ru Ru Ta Ra…..
Ta Ra Ru Ru Ta Ra…..
Ta Ra Ru Ru Ta Ra Ra Ra Ru Ya
Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah………

Ae Pahchana Mile The Kabhee Us Rat Ko
Hmm Daro Nahee
Bat Hai Woh Raaz Kee, Par Raaz Raaz Hee Rahega

Meraa Nam Hai Shabanam, Pyar Se Log Mujhe Shabbo Kahte Hain
Tumhara Nam Kya Hai Ha Ha Ha
Nina Mina Anju Ya Manju, Nina Mina Anju Manju Ya Madhu
Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah

Hmm Us Roz Rat Bhar Shahanai Bajatee Rahee
Mai Thee Tum Thee Aur Woh
Unhoon Sharmao Nahee, Ghabrao Nahee
Kahungi Kisee Se Nahee
Janti Ho Meraa Nam Hai Shabnam
Pyar Se Log Mujhe Shabbo Kahte Hain
Tumhara Nam Kya Hai Hahaha
Nina Mina Anju Ya Manju, Nina Mina Anju Manju Ya Madhu
Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah Ha Aah.

Magic In Tunes: 04/18/2015 – Nee Jathaga Nenundali, Nee Yedalo Ne Nindali

Yevadu ( = Who Is He?) is a 2014 hit Telugu action thriller film with some good melodies. I liked the concept of the movie and the taking of it with two different stories packed into one. Per Wiki this was based partially on the hit 1997 Hollywood film Faceoff, but I thought that this was created very well too.

One of the song that I loved from the film was “Nee Jathaga Nenundali, Nee Yedalo Ne Nindali” Sung by Karthik and Shreya Ghoshal. Music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. With lines as these it can only be Sirivennela Sitaramasastri who would have penned these beautiful Lyrics.

Kallokosthavanukuna Tellarlu Chusthu Kurchuna
Ralede Jadaina Lede
Reppala Bayate Nenunna Avi Musthe Vaddamanukuna
Padukove Paiga Tidathave

Lyrics in Romanized Telugu:

Nee Jathaga Nenundali, Nee Yedalo Ne Nindali
Nee Katha Ga Nene Marali
Nee Needai Ne Nadavali, Nee Nijamai Ne Nilavali
Nee Oopiri Nene Kavali

Nake Teliyani Nanu Chupinchi, Neekai Puttananipinchi
Nee Daka Nanu Rappinchave
Nee Santhosham Nakandinchi, Naa Peruki Ardam Marchi
Nenate Nuvvanipinchave

Nee Jathaga Nenundali, Nee Yedalo Ne Nindali
Nee Katha Ga Nene Marali

Kallokosthavanukuna Tellarlu Chusthu Kurchuna
Ralede Jadaina Lede
Reppala Bayate Nenunna Avi Musthe Vaddamanukuna
Padukove Paiga Tidathave

Lokam Lo Lenatte Maikam Lo Nenunte Vadilesthava Nannila
Ni Lokam Nakante Inkedo Undante Namme Matala

Nee Jathaga Nenundali, Nee Yedalo Ne Nindali
Nee Katha Ga Nene Marali

Telisi Teliyaka Valindi Ni Nadumompullo Naligindi Na Choopu
